Are there actually women looking for older men, or is there an unwritten rule that says older than 55 need not apply?? I don't know if it's my profile or not (I cannot afford profile help), but I do not get too many responses. The ones who do reply say, "I don't think we would be a good match" or (I liked this one an awful lot) "I am taking a break from dating for now." -- Tom P., 58, St. Louis, Missouri

Tom, usually, but not always, when younger women seek an older man
“it's because they see dollar signs in him”
it's because they see dollar signs in him. And since you can't afford profile help, they sense that and steer clear of you. I've a better idea. Seek women your age, even a bit older, and you may find the love of your life. Forget trying to date younger women -- get real. Find a mate who is close to your age. You'll be much happier.

Women who chose men so much older than them are looking for a father figure to replace their dad. The word Oedipus comes to mind.

As a 62 year old widow, I am always matched up with some guy with no hair, no teeth, or no talleywacker! I look young and I work full time as a nurse. I do not want some guy who is fixated on his abs ( "six pack") or "carbs", or "Paris Hilton" types. I would like to meet a guy who reads the news paper, can discuss politics and knows a woman is a human being. Keep your money, diamonds and trinkets. Send me a man who knows when to hold you and just be still.

I think older men are sexy, I am at presence having a relationship with an older man, & he is so very hot, interesting, smart & sexy. Gee at times I can't believe how lucky I am. He helps me grow as a person. I appreciate & value him a lot, he's God gift to me. I love him deeply, a wonderfully great person.

I just recently got out of a bad relationship with a younger man that didnt communicate, have any emotions, ever compliment me and just didnt have the muturity to be the man that i need.. So i met up with a man 14 years my senior and we had a wonderful time and seemed to click, Im excited to see where the relationship will go.

I have been in a relationship for four years now with a guy who is 23 years older than me and it's not about money, i love him very much. I think that younger man are not mature in every possible way and they are all looking for only one thing, to be able to get into your pants and leave the next day. Commitment is not there thing. Older man have already been through that stage and are just looking for someone to love and settle down with.

Tom, Don't give up... Just keep looking. There are lots of single, divorced, or widowed women in your age group. Message to the 19-year old dating a 63 year old man, and to the 24 year old dating a 62 year old man.... ...that's just creepy. An age difference is fine, but when the difference is two generations, that's ridiculous.

Thanks Tom! I agree with you! I am 24 and I get so grossed out by all of the 35 and up men hitting on me all the time. i want someone I can grow old with, not someone who is already old!

I date men older than me I am 33 years old and I tend to date at least 8 years or more my age. It has nothing to do with money I make my own money its just hard to date someone my age that isn't lookin for the next supermodel. I'm not bad lookin by a long shot its just easier to date someone that knows what he likes and comfortable being him.

I've dated women older and younger than me... the nice thing about younger women is they aren't as salty. For me, it doesn't have as much to do with looks or libido -- which seems to be the underlying theme here. Hey, I want to have fun when I'm dating someone, not be constantly reminded about how much "life sucks"... One piece of advice to all the men out there: "SLOW DOWN"! You're in a construction zone when you first start a relationship, and remember that fines DOUBLE in construction zones. Isn't it funny, the paralells of life?
